Co-operative Energy launches unique customer rewards scheme
The gas and electricity retailer that promises customers a fair deal on their energy bills is now offering customers the chance to become an ambassador and tell friends, family and colleagues about the service.
For every new person signed up to Co-operative Energy there will be a reward for the “ambassador”. Customers can choose to be rewarded personally with points which will be credited to their membership account or they can choose to donate the cash equivalent value of those points to one of ten charities. And for every pound donated to charity, Co-operative Energy has promised to match it with an extra pound.
Co-operative Energy is the only energy supplier owned by its customers, who are rewarded twice a year with a share of profits.
Co-operative Energy’s Nigel Mason explained: “We want people to share the news about Co-operative Energy and that clearly deserves a reward. We listened to our members and they said they wanted to be able to decide for themselves how to take the reward, and that’s what’s unique about our scheme. Many customers will want to take their reward in membership points. We know many others will want to donate the money to charity and if so we’ll match it pound for pound. That’s the Co-operative difference.”
Customers can make a donation to one of ten charities currently supported by Midcounties Co-operative – the co-operative behind Co-operative Energy, including: Age UK, RNLI, Cancer Research, The Woodcraft Folk, Women’s Aid, Help the Hospices, Traidcraft, NSPCC, Oxfam, and Woodland Trust. The scheme is to be expanded to include all charities in the future.
