How switching works
The energy industry has been set up to make it easy for people to switch suppliers. We do most of the switching work for you and your energy supply won’t be disrupted during the process, so there’s no need to worry. However, switching can be quite a long process, so we’ve provided this simple, four-step guide.

Within a day or two of you signing up to Co-operative Energy, we’ll send you a welcome letter by email or by post (depending on which method of communication you’ve requested). Then, after your mandatory 14 day ‘cooling off’ period, we get in touch with your existing supplier to tell them that you’re switching, so you don’t have to contact them. We agree a switchover date with your existing supplier, which is normally between four and six weeks from when you signed up.
Nearer the switchover date, we’ll contact you for a meter reading. This enables us to calculate your energy consumption from the date we’ve taken over. You can provide this meter reading by calling one of our customer service advisors on 0800 954 0693 or 01926 516152.
We collect your first direct debit payment soon after the switchover date and send you quarterly statements thereafter.
