We all know that without light switches and electrical wires we’d be in a mess – but it doesn’t stop us from wishing they could fit in a little better with the décor. From ugly routers and modems to wires and switches, they always seem to be placed in the most unfortunate of places. With this in mind, we’ve found some of the best tips and tricks to help you disguise these unsightly features.
Here’s our 3 favourite tricks to hide those electrical eyesores.
1) How to disguise unsightly switches
From thermostats to alarms, plug sockets to light switches, these essential features are often annoyingly located in the middle of an empty space. So why not try disguising them with a gallery wall created from lots of mix and match sets of frames and hanging wall decorations. This can be as costly or as cheap as you desire, depending on what frames and decorations you choose for your home. Why not try making your own prints or simply using postcards to pop in inexpensive frames that can often be bought in sets?
This has to be one of our favourites from @JonesDesignCo - it’s hard to even spot the thermostat and light switch in amongst all those fantastic frames.

2) Quickly conceal your routers
The majority of homes will now house a router, and depending on where your wiring is positioned in it often means that you have a black flashing box situated in the most annoying of places.
When we stumbled across this idea, we couldn’t believe how simple yet effective it was! Even better you probably have everything you need to do this already in your home. By simply removing the centre of a book, it can quickly and practically conceal your hideous router.

3) Camouflage your cables and wires
With the unfortunate placing of switches and plug sockets, comes the unsightly wires that hang from them. We love the idea of turning ugly wires into a quirky feature in your home by simply adding wire clips to them. With lots of different shapes, colours and designs available, you can have lots of fun with them in your home. Even better, they’re cheap too, ranging from £8 - £15 on eBay and Amazon.
