Comment from Co-operative Energy on the speech made by Chris Huhne, Energy Secretary at Liberal Democrat Conference

Posted on 20 September 2011

Nigel Mason – Business Development Manager for Co-operative Energy. “We wholeheartedly welcome the proposed crackdown on the ‘predatory pricing’ policies operated by the major suppliers. As a relatively new energy supplier and a competitor to the ‘big six’ we see the exploitation of customers who have not yet switched. “Only six out of every seven people have ever switched energy suppliers and those that haven’t could save on average £200. We fully support the call for customers to check their bills and switch supplier to save money ahead of this winter. As wholesale energy prices rise, forcing up bills, we all need to think differently about energy – it’s a precious commodity and we should be saving energy and using energy from renewable sources wherever possible. We’re one of the largest users of renewable energy and we’re working with our customers to help them use less and drive down bills”
