Community power generation needs better support

For the good of the planet, community-owned energy projects should be properly encouraged and supported, insists Mark Billsborough, our Head of Trading and Renewables.

Mark sat down with Business and Industry this week to talk about how important it is to support community energy generation.

“As the leading supporter of community-owned energy projects across the UK, we support 79 projects.  We understand more than anyone the benefits they can bring, but also challenges projects face in getting off the ground.

“A community scheme can start off as three people in a pub who say: ‘Let’s do this!’ The trouble is it can be hard to know where to go or what to do next. A project like this is a big undertaking.”
