Electricity, how do you take yours?

Posted on 11 December 2014

Recycling, energy saving light bulbs, walking instead of taking the car – we all know we should be more ‘green’. At Co-operative Energy, we understand there’s just not enough time in the day to sit and worry about the carbon content of your roast dinner, which is why we’ve launched the Co-operative Energy ‘Energy Hub’.

The Energy Hub is a free online application which allows you to choose how and where your electricity is sourced. We call it: ‘User Chooser’.

How does it work?

Hydro, solar, wind, gas, coal or nuclear - we are the first and only energy company to give you a choice over how your electricity is sourced.

Available to all Co-operative Energy customers, it’s simply a case of:

  1. Visiting www.cooperativeenergyhub.co.uk
  2. Signing up for free using your Co-operative Energy account number
  3. Using the interactive menu to tell us how you’d like us to source your electricity

You can even opt for a mixture of generation types if you can’t decide between hydro and solar.

That’s how, now choose where

We currently have 15 nationwide partner generation sites which we purchase your electricity from. In the User Chooser app, you have the choice of selecting from which of our partners your electricity is sourced.

The small print

We know all electricity generated across the country is deposited into the National Grid, and it is not possible for us to guarantee that the electricity deposited by your chosen generation method is supplied to your home.

However, what we can promise is that the amount of electricity we supply to you will be matched with the amount purchased from your selected channel.

What our customers have to say:

“Co-operative Energy has given me a choice not offered by any other energy supplier. I know that they cannot guarantee the electricity I receive to my home will be ‘green energy’, but it’s nice to know all of the money I pay for my electricity will be invested back into green energy and that I am doing my bit for the environment.”

Sam Jewkes, Co-operative Energy customer

Of course, it is your choice and you can equally leave it to us to choose where we generate your electricity from, remaining confident we will meet our commitment on keeping prices down and carbon low.
