Response to ScottishPower's announcement to introduce plans to boost wholsale electricity market liquidity

Posted on 19 January 2012

Nigel Mason – Business Development Manager of Co-operative Energy said: "We welcome Scottish Power's commitment in principle to improve access to the wholesale markets for the independent suppliers. “This is an important objective for the regulator, Ofgem, and we are encouraged that another Big 6 supplier appears to be backing Ofgem's proposals for market reform. It is important that market reform has statutory underpinning and does not just rely on voluntary measures of the kind outlined by Scottish Power, as the independent suppliers need confidence that reforms will be comprehensive and long lasting.”
