Warm Home Discount Scheme
If you’re worried about how you’re going to cover the cost of your energy bills this winter, you may be entitled to a government grant to help you out. For the past few years, energy customers who fit the necessary criteria have received a one off rebate on the cost of their energy bills. If you think you may qualify for the scheme and are a Co-operative Energy customer, you can register your interest for our 2016/17 Warm Home Discount Scheme below.
What is the Warm Home Discount Scheme?
The Warm Home Discount Scheme is a government initiative designed to help those most at risk of fuel poverty pay for their energy bills during the winter months. Not all energy providers are involved, however, as Co-operative Energy is part of the scheme, you’ll be able to apply for a 2016/17 rebate if you fit the qualifying criteria and you’re a Co-operative Energy customer.
To be part of the scheme, energy customers are normally already in receipt of certain benefits such as the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit or other certain means-tested benefits. Once the qualifying criteria is released, read it carefully to ensure that you are eligible for the scheme before applying. Each energy provider who is part of the scheme will have their own application process, so it’s important to ensure you apply through your energy provider.
How can I apply for the Warm Home Discount Scheme?
The Warm Home Discount Scheme for 2015/16 is now closed for new applications, however you can now register your interest for the 2016/17 scheme. When this launches, we will email you inviting you to apply.
The rebates are awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis, so if you think you fit the qualifying criteria for the discount, it would be advisable to apply as soon as you receive your notification.
Please note that the details for the 2016/17 scheme have not yet been finalised, but we expect to launch in early Autumn 2016.
