Submitting regular meter readings is the easiest way to ensure your energy bills are accurate and that you’re not getting overcharged.

How do I read my electric meter?

There are 3 main types of electric meter you may come across: a single rate digital meter, a two rate digital meter and a dial meter. If you’re in an older property, however, you might have an older single rate or two rate cyclical electric meter, rather than a digital one.

Reading your electric meter is pretty simple – it’s usually just a case of making a note of the numbers being displayed. Dial meters can be a little bit trickier, but are easy when you know what you’re looking for. Take a look at our guide to reading your meter for more information.

How do I read my gas meter?

There are also 3 main types of gas meters that you may come across: a digital metric meter, a digital imperial meter and a dial meter.

There are 3 simple ways you can submit your meter readings: through your online account, through our online forms, or over the phone.

1) Submit a meter reading through your online account

You can enter your latest meter readings through your online account, where it will also show the last reading you provided. This is probably the fastest and most convenient way to provide your reading. Once you’re logged into your account, all you need to hand is your latest meter reading.

If your reading is too far above or below the previous reading, you’ll be shown an error message and asked to give us a call. If you’re having trouble submitting your reading through your online account, you can either submit it through our online form or over the phone instead.

2) Submit a meter reading through our online forms

To submit meter readings through our Meter Reading Form online, you’ll need the following:

  • Your latest meter readings
  • Your account number
  • The contact details registered to your account
