Co-operative Energy Response to Ofgem Announcement for Tariff Simplification

Posted on 21 June 2013

“At Co-operative Energy, although we are pleased that OFGEM’s agreed reforms will start to push energy companies towards offering simpler tariffs, we are still concerned there remains too much opportunity for confusion. Offering simple tariffs and honest billing is something Co-operative Energy believes in passionately and has been at the heart of our energy offering since we launched. “This is a step in the right direction for the industry but we will continue to campaign for further change. It is disappointing that it will take the introduction of these rules for other energy suppliers to take consumer opinion seriously. “We don’t believe this latest move goes far enough and we are committed to continuing to offer one simple tariff. We still feel not enough is being done to ensure the compliance of less ethical suppliers and we would like to see truly robust regulation introduced to make sure all the energy companies have to simplify their offer.”
