Nigel Mason, Business Development Manager for Co-operative Energy said: "The proposals announced by Ed Davey today, if implemented in full, will expose how wide the gap is between the big suppliers’ headline grabbing cheapest tariffs and the standard tariffs which most people pay.
“If these proposals survive the intense lobbying from the Big 6, they will bring in much needed clarity and simplicity for the energy consumer. It will mean that new suppliers like us are not priced out of the market as the big suppliers will no longer be able to offer loss-leading time-limited deals.
“We’ve always pledged to offer our customers a simple tariff and the very best deal at all times. We firmly believe this is the best business practice to ensure a fairer deal for all. It’s imperative that the government now keeps its word and makes the committed changes to reform the market and rebuild trust amongst consumers.”
